Did you know that rice the giblets is a tradicional plate from the North of Portugal? Despite being very known in the Center and South of the country, it is mainly in the Douro region that this dish is cooked. The rice the giblets is done with chicken and the blood of the chicken.

Did you know that one of the tippical plates of the Douro is the roast partridge in oven? The partridge is a very atractive bird for hunters, because it lives in wooded areas. In the Douro region, the partridge is very appreciated and, frequently, accompanied with red wine.

Did you know that next week, May 18, will be held on the 9th Half Marathon of Douro? "The most beautiful race in the world" has about 10 000 participants. This year, the organization is preparing the best edition ever for several foreign participants can make the most of this region.

The (Coimbos de Portugal - CP) "Trains of Portugal", railway company, is promoting this event so that increasingly you enjoy good scenery and products from Douro. Port wine and apple of Armamar will attend this IX Half Marathon of Douro.

Did you know that the line of iron railway of Douro started being built in 1875? The line with 200 kilometers of fencing was completed only in 1887 and it linked Barca D'Alva to Ermesinde. Today, the line of Douro connects São Bento (Porto) to Pocinho.

Did you know that the Douro has several traditional dances? "Chula", "Malhão" and "Vira" are some types of traditional dance in this region. 
The "Chula" is one of the most distinctive and theatrical. Currently, this dance is practiced by ranches - groups that use old clothes and dance traditional songs, sung live. The "Malhão" is very similar to "Chula". 
"Vira" is danced in various regions differently. In the Minho region it is similar to the "Chula" but in Régua, "Vira" and "Chula" are the same dance.

Did you know that Douro river is one of the largest in Portugal? Douro River rises in Spain, 2080 meters above the sea level and is one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. It crosses the North of Portugal and flows at the mouth of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. 
Previously, it was across the river that various products were carried, such as wine. Today, the boats moving on the river are dedicated to tourism.

Did you know that once there were only two entities to sell rebuçados da Régua ("Régua's candy")? The sale started this delicacy at parties but soon expanded to a daily sale. There are currently more than a dozen rebuçadeiras ("candy sellers") every day trying to sell the characteristic sweet of the city.

Did you know that the “donkey-of-miranda” is endangered? Previously, the animal was used in fairs as a means of transportation or labor. Today, with the lack of interest in cultivating the species, there are fewer donkeys.

The “donkey-of-miranda” has long dark hair and is known to be very docile.
