Régua's candy (Rebuçados da Régua) is one of the characteristic products of the city. They have already over 300 years and they are made mostly of sugar. The caramel is worked in marble stones still hot to make them round. All work is done manually.
When tourists come to the Régua, whether by boat or by train, the candy sellers ("rebuçadeiras") are already waiting and start immediately proclaim "Look, candy of Régua, take this candy of Régua". The candy sellers ("rebuçadeiras") sell this product every day, from sunrise to sunset, welcoming all who pass by this beautiful city.
