Gastronomy: Vinho verde (“green wine” or “young wine”) ou vinho maduro (“mature wine”)?

Source: http://eofdreams.com/wine.html
Did you know that the designation of vinho verde (“green wine” or “young wine”) or vinho maduro (“mature wine”) has nothing to do with the maturation of the grapes? «All wines are produced from ripe grapes and white wine is no exception.»

Such a difference only exists in Portugal!

Everything depends on the region: “young wine” if it has been produced in the Minho and Entre Douro (in the green wine region), “mature wine” if it has been produced in any other region.

«Basically allows to highlight the specificity of “green wines” compared to all others: the “greens” are lighter, fresh and generally less alcoholic wines.»

Gastronomy: Quinta das Parcelas

In the Régua Valley, the capital of Douro, Quinta das Parcelas is situated on the right side of the river.
António Vicente, farm owner, gave this name to the farm because it was made of several parts, that belonged to various members of the family. From generation to generation, these parts were passed and today, it's a beautiful farm.
Quinta das Parcelas produces a red wine called Milhafre Negro Tinto. It is constituted by these varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. This set gives an intense aroma to this wine.
